As a Mechanical Engineer for Ceres, you will deliver customized engineering solutions for a defined customer base within the capital equipment industry.  You will consult with customers to design products that fit their needs in an innovative fashion.  You will then be fully immersed into the conceptual design, development, testing, and final delivery.  We’re looking for someone who can visualize and create solutions to address customer needs and issues.  You’ll have autonomy to be creative and do what it takes to accomplish project goals.  You’ll be exposed to a wide range of applications in the engineering field which will enable you to develop and grow your career.  If you love figuring out how large machinery works and want exposure to a full-cycle engineering process, Ceres’ Mechanical Engineer opening may be for you.  Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering degree strongly preferred.   

 

  • During your first year as a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved with: 
  • Designing concepts and developing a solution based on the customers’ requirements. 
  • Utilizing your knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems to enhance mobile equipment. 
  • Troubleshooting systems on the final assembly of machines to ensure a quality build. 
  • Mechanical design review for safety and reliability. 
  • Ensuring completion of technical documentation, system mechanical drawings, and as-built assembly drawings.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: 

 

  • Designs and develops machines and machine systems to ensure new machinery products are fully operational.  Researches and analyzes data from customer design proposal and specifications to determine and verify accuracy of design for desired application.  Performs engineering calculations to verify suitability of mechanical equipment based on application.  Identifies and defines product testing methods and ensures recording of testing results for machinery to verify design performance. 
  • Prioritizes workload to ensure designs are completed according to established timelines. 
  • Works with Production Equipment Manager and oversees equipment production to ensure designs and requirements are clear to manufacturing team.  Makes necessary changes to designs for manufacturability.  Provides proper communication and documentation as necessary to support lean efforts and production efficiency. 
  • Works with drafting team to create engineering drawings for manufacturing.  Ensures quality of completed engineering drawings, “red-lines” and follows through with corrections and certification for corrections, if needed. 
  • Determines needs of customer through consultation, verification and confirmation of designs in coordination with sales and marketing team.  Identifies estimated manufacturing cost of custom products and monitors projects to achieve target budget. 
  • Performs Finite Element Analysis to verify design accuracy.  Performs and occasionally leads Failure Mode Effect Analysis efforts to identify quality opportunities and drive improvement.
